Emailing back and forth with a guy on Craigslist about power steering pumps and he sent me five pictures with different styles... I have no idea what I'm looking for when it comes to a power steering pump and bracket. Is there a style I need for the water pump housing I have? I have a 66 Coronet with a 400 big block... I can get the water pump housing numbers if that matters. Can you guys help me sort out which of these would work best for my application? Thanks!
The first 2 pictures are of Federated pumps. The 2nd picture looks like it's for a small block.

The 3rd and 4th pictures are Saginaw pumps (yes boys and girls, Mopar used GM parts in our cars). The third one looks like it will fit a big block. The 4th one looks like it's out of a motor home.

Now comes the big question. What size is the low pressure hose on your power steering box? If you have the large hose adapter, then you have to either run a Federated pump, or swap out the hose adapter for the smaller size.
So I have two hoses coming out of the... turns out I don't know the technical term for the piece of the power steering system that is on the steering column. You know what I mean anyway... so one hose has a screw end and the other hose is just cut off like you would use a hose clamp. I'm assuming you are saying I need to measure the end that screws into the pump. Do you know what size would indicate a federal and what size would say otherwise? I can measure it up tomorrow.
The low pressure hose is the clamp on one. The larger style hose is 5/8" I believe.
Measured it on the way out the door this morning and its got to be the big one... 1/2 inch I'd, 5/8 od. So that would indicate I need a federated pump from pic 1... I'm sure the guy getting rid of them knows as yes pretty knowledgeable, but are the brackets in the last pic suitable for those pumps?
When I get home tonite I'll see if I can dig out the pump and brackets and take some pictures for you.
Thanks a ton!
I couldn't remember the website I found it on (that's why I started this thread) but I found it. Here is a good resource for this:
