Oh yeah! Car didn't move 3 ft. Already contamination in pan. Its fighting itself. Goes forward in neutral and reverse.
I had that problem before on a trans I had built for me in the past (this is why I do my own transmissions now) - the direct (forward) drum piston came out too far, dangly bits and partially held the clutch engaged . There is an early and late style piston/return spring combo on the forward clutch, if you mix them up this can happen. Let me know what you find Mark.

At least they run tell midnight.
I found that trans problem the hard way when I did a neutral dump in my dad's Suburban... who'd have thought a worn out 305 would grenade a trans with 500 miles on it..
