1) We know the site is NOT mobile friendly. For awhile the only fix was to upgrade to the latest version hosted at vBulletin for a $5K a year fee...But, there are apparently some changes we can add and with a either a regular mobile web browser or a aftermarket app download they may fix the issues we've seen in the past. At top of the list is image uploading, we know it's a nightmare so maybe one of these new add ons will help.
2) Kevin is learning more and more about databases and queries, so sometime in the future we may have a registry. I know he's been on FaceCrook trying to promote the site.
3) If I was a true HTML developer I could link the site so FB posts appear here and vice versa. But I don't know how it works if you don't have an account (I know, I'm one of the few that doesn't). If you're a HTML developer and have linked into FB before, give me a shout. We can't pay but I think members would be uber grateful to you.
So guys, until we can get stuff straightened out, post. Post vids of your latest projects, holeshots, heck, car shows you've gone to. Even if you've sold your 'Net, stop in and let us know how you're doing and if you got something else or a new project. Just no politics or religion, fastest way for best friends to become mortal enemies is to start those 2 subjects up.
And again, any questions PM or email me and I'll do my best to help. This place used to be hopping, maybe someday we can get it back it's old ways..
Mike
A huge thank you to both you and Kevin for trying to solve some of the issues which have led so may members elsewhere. I will NEVER join Facebook so the ORIGINAL DCR website will always be my only DCR home! I know, trust and respect the owner of this DCR website a lot more than the "gentleman" who owns and runs Facebook!

Some major surprises in past 24 hours..
First off, vBulletin caught a lot of blowback from their new version being only housed on their servers, so now they offer a much more affordable version we can run where the site is currently hosted.
Secondly, there will most likely not be an app for smart phones/tablets. To have an app you have to purchase their "Mobile Suite", which costs almost as much as upgrading to new version. Secondly, you have to join Apple and Androids Application Development program (together cost as much as the suite, and it's a yearly renewal) to customize it to work with the site. And then the app I create has to pass Apple's and Android's approval before it will go in the store. And judging from the 4 customized apps I saw, it's not a popular thing.
Good news is from what vBulletin says, the new version is more mobile web browser friendly than before (which sucked donkey dick to say the least). So hopefully if we upgrade it will resolve picture uploading issues people have been having with their phones. And lastly, from the screen shots, the new version is MUCH more user friendly (and Admin friendly yippee), it appears to be made for the 2020 decade, not the 1990's. (granted they may be customized so won't know for sure til we decide to get it)
Someone asked me if there was another forum platform we could use. Yes there is, one of the most popular is created by the 2 lead programmers from vBulletin who left when the new owners squashed a ground up rebuild. It's a little more affordable and at first glance I can import users and content to the new software. BUT, everything is a chargeable add on, from searching to having image libraries etc etc. It's popular with people that run multiple forums at once (ie the places that do it for money, not the fun/friendship).
BTW, in researching all this, we are not the only ones to see a decline in activity. We are actually one of the few survivors, as many forums saw drops in usage as far back as 2009 and many folded. Who is to blame? General consensus is FaceCrook along with changing hobbies and such.
Thanks for all this good work guys.
Well someone found 10 new members on Facebook! Maybe some will sign up here too.
thanks for all the work and research Mike, you are motivating me to start looking at some different things we can do

This will be a huge deal. :o
make that 22
YES!!! Sounds great Mike!!!
I must ask though, if the board is changed to one of these new options will all of the current forums and threads be able to be transferred to the new platform? If we lose the music forums I won't live long enough to rebuild those forums! LOL!
Richard
From experience of moving from one version of Vbulletin to another, all forums and threads came over without a problem, so your music section should be ok.
Going to another platform (which I just found out now has a mobile app included) may be a different story, It's so different I don't know how well it will migrate users/content.
But trust me, I'll be running a seperate site to test either option out first, and will do multiple backups of the current site before anything is done to the existing one.
