Guys,

I think the car has a tank vent issue, when I remove the tank cap (after guzzling some gallons) it "hisses" at me..

i discovered that the fuel tank on my Bee, has one vent line going to the trunk ect like it should.
But the other vent has a rubber hose that leads right back into the tank?! Seems to me that has no use, or does it?
Should go outside to vent?!
The tank has two vent "pipes" coming out at the top, a fuel line "pipe", and right next to the Fuel line pipe, two other "pipes".
One of those has the rubber "vent" hose coming in, the other plugged of with a rubber cap.
So a total of 5 pipes.
I searched on the internet, but what you mostly see is 4 pipes/lines coming from these tanks.

I just crawled under the car to take a night shot to give you guys a idea.
When needed I can take a better shot during daytime.

So my question is;
should I let both vent lines "vent"?
And then cab off that other pipe (now in use with the rubber vent hose)?
What year is your car?

Do you have a service manual?
1969, but the tank is a newer one. Placed by a former owner.
No manual no..
I tried looking at `68 `69 manual and didn't see a good pic that would help out.
I'm lost too but why not just use a vented cap?

In case you need a service manual......

My '68 Coronet has 3 pipes. One for the fuel line to the front, one is the long vent that going up into the trunk with the trap bend it it and the other is a short vent that is about 5" long and just is clipped to the shock support up in the body above the axle.

Their gas cap behind license plate.. not good idea with full tank to have vented cap.. that why they moved the vents to the tank itself..

Ok, I'm gonna change the short vent into something like the original.
that should do the trick.
There are no return lines on this Bee.

Jim

this is what i have on my 'vert. tank gets pressurized, leaks gas thru the short one. vented caps seem to be not available. i drilled a 3/32 hole thru the cap, and orientate it so the hole is 'up'. maybe not right, at least i dont have gasoline dripping out.
