Understand there was a problem with the site, so thought I'd reintroduce myself and my 53 convertible I found several years ago. It is a 53 Coronet acquired from the family of the original owners. It's one of seven surviving that I know about and is the only one listed in the national WPC roster. It was put away in 1964, so still has its original top, interior and 90% of its original paint. All 53 convertibles were equipped with the new Red Ram 241 cu in hemi. Mine also has the optional Gyro-Torque semi-automatic 4-spd transmission and about every other option that was available in 1953.

In the four years I've owned it, I've gotten it running, including finding someone to rebuild the transmission, which was the reason it was put into storage in the first place. I also have a 69 GTX that I restored several years ago, so have the luxury of keeping the 53 as a survivor car. Recently installed an electric fuel pump so hopefully it will be a little more dependable this year.

Regards,
Rich

Welcome back Rich
Welcome again and nice car!!!
Welcome back... that's one nice looking car..
welcome back and nice car!
Welcome back Captain. Nice 53!
Nice 53. I know that 53 Coronet covertibles must be rare. '54 Indy Pace Car convertibles show up at antique car events every now and then, but in almost 25 years of going to classic car shows and Mopar shows, I have only seen a couple 53 Coronet convertibles. Theres a black one that attends the Spring Fling Mopar show in California, and there was a bright red 53 convertible that showed up a few times at the Mopar Nationals many years ago.

Here are a few more photos. The first was taken when I first laid eyes upon it after being dragged out from 45 years of garage storage. Second photo was at 2012 Mile High Nationals near Denver where it was named a Chrysler Heritage vehicle. Third was just a display at 2012 Creme de la Chrome show also in Denver. Both were taken after the top would no longer go down - something I hope to fix this spring. Thought I'd also throw in a pic of my 440 4spd GTX.
