Hey gang.
Down to the last few bolts pulling my 727 from the car. I had the pan off to drain, then put the pan back on to catch the drips until it was ready to lower it. I pulled the pan one last time and it only had a few ounces in the pan. Dumped it out and went over the tranny flange with a scraper one last time using gravity to let the junk fall.

To my surprise.... there is another hole.... holly crap. its next to the dipstick. Omg the area of leakage.
I poked and probed this hole in the flange by the dipstick.
It goes up and thru. packed with dirt and sand and crud.

After the clean-up? Its a no brainer. One of the 1/4 pipe plugs was missing. Fluid was seeping between the gasket and up that crud filled hole. I never noticed it and I would not have noticed the plug missing because the exhaust pipe runs right next to the tranny.

I ran a 1/4 tap. cleaned the threads and ran a 1/4 x 1/2 bolt from the top down using tread lock gel. Then filled up the bottom void with RTV.
The original reason I was pulling my 727 was to cure this never ending leak, 4 pan gaskets of all costs and quality. Figured I had a bad front seal? Or a cracked case? I knew I had to get it out to get a look at it.
Keep going? Or put it back together?
put it back together. hmmmm i have a never ending leak in the 727 in my dart that is in the same area. Sad
Feels good to find a pesky problem!
It's fixed!! It's fixed!! No more cardboard to catch oil leaks.

$3.99 fiber reusable gasket on eBay. Shipping cost more. I'm happy!
