New bullet for the "Brick"
  • [INDENT]I finished cleaning, lubing & adjusting the passenger side front & rear windows. I installed new cat whiskers & door glass division channel (I had started this project long ago but had issues with the repro division channel, I had to wait until the "new & improved repros became available) The new ones are excellent. I also installed new moisture barriers, installed a new roof rail seal, cleaned and installed the door panels and finally my custom inside door handles/arm rests from earlier in the thread. I will also be doing the drivers side at a later date.

It is restored, a guy named Charlie Quarters did it. He's in Michigan.

Awesome! I like Charlie. He sold me a NOS horn ring for my 65 Fury. Good price - very hard to find.

He offered me a restored 3-spoke wood grain for my convertible for $500, a little too rich for me. The one for the racecar was $300!, he also offered me a nice horn ring for mine (racecar) for I think $100, but my original is really nice.

Wow.. and back in the day some Canadian guy paid me $300 plus shipping for a cracked red 66 just cause the chrome center was mint on it. And he set the price, not me!
I love Mopars so much I'm date coding the skid marks in my underwear.

Report -

The weekend was a bust, I only got 2 passes in and folded it up, too many issues. The plan was just to make a few easy 1/8th mile shakedown passes to check all the "systems" first and go from there.

1. The driving was bad, it's been 5 years and I'm not used to how quickly things happen in 10 seconds
2. My "revolutionary" Pan-evac/breather box system is a bust - pulled oil out of the engine and made a huge smoke screen on the first pass, had to shut it down and get towed off the track. Looks like I'm gonna have to put the
breathers in the valve covers. Gonna have to drill holes and have some baffles welded into the inside of the v/covers.
3. Engine has an oil leak in the rear.
4. For the second pass I pulled the pan-evac hoses off the check valves, re-routed them up to the hood hinge area (both sides) and taped rags over the ends of the hoses. Made another half pass and when I got back to the pit and
pulled the hood some residual oil had soaked the rags and made a mess.
5. Rt front tire was leaking

Some positives -

1. Car went 1.42 60ft (3675 lbs on 9inch wide old, hard, worn-out tires. If I can't get it into the 1.30's I'll be disappointed.
2. Went 6.50 in 1/8th (not even sure if it was a full 1/8th mile pass and don't even know where I shifted it)
3. Even with a filled block the cooling system worked great, gauge stays at 180 degrees (I may have to go to a 195 degree t-stat and fan switch)
4. Brakes seem to work good.

I have started pulling the engine again to address the problems.
