I took the mechanism completely apart, repaired, cleaned, lubed, sanded and painted it all. New latches, cylinders, hoses, weatherstripping, tack strips ETC. What a project... probably have 20 hours in it adjusting it all up, windows and all. I recall my Dad saying he replaced the top twice - last time probably in the mid eighties. The top had been down the last 20+ it was junk and whoever installed it should've been shot (same goes for the person who did the paint and body)
The car was built with a Blue top - I'm going with a very dark blue (almost black) My Dad had changed it to black (said the blue was ugly) I found this photo on the internet - if this is the factory color I can understand why he did not like it. What do you think? 885

Blue on blue looks fine to me. Does that shade match the dark blue interior?

No not really, the interior is Navy blue - seems darker than the top in that photo.

send us mo pics when you have it installed.my top is black over red.my top goes up really slow,when the cylinders and pump motor go,I am going to disconnect everything and put it up and down by hand. I only put top up once a year anyway,for about 4 months,then it stays down the rest of the year
