Viton vs Rubber for rear main - theman440 - 03-14-23 Most newer engines use viton, I'm sure it's better than rubber. Viton vs Rubber for rear main - 67440Dodge - 03-15-23 Danke Jeff... I had read it was better in higher temp situations but wasn't sure on a regular use setup.. got one on order now.. Viton vs Rubber for rear main - markz - 03-16-23 Viton is synthetic rubber so it should be better........... Viton vs Rubber for rear main - 67440Dodge - 03-17-23 I hope... I'm getting tired of dropping the pan and don't want to waste the clutch.. Viton vs Rubber for rear main - 67r/t4speeder - 03-17-23 With all you have been through with this leak, are you sure it is rear main ? Viton vs Rubber for rear main - markz - 03-18-23 I think we took my buddy's 69 Roadrunner 440 4 spd apart 5 or 6 times. Sometimes was better than others but still leaked. Another buddy came by and redid it one time and its dry. No idea............ Viton vs Rubber for rear main - 67440Dodge - 03-18-23 When you check the top of the motor and it's dryer than a 80yr old woman's cooch, and pull the inspection cover and it's coated in oil and shine a light up and see oil seeping out the seal, it's a good indication it's the main. Not leaking from the sides, the seal itself. Im also going to swap out the oil spring for a standard pressure spring if I still have one and see if the lower pressure helps any. Viton vs Rubber for rear main - 67440Dodge - 03-20-23 My comment about the seal weeping was from before... I pulled pan and it was dryer than some 90yr old grandma's coochie... but.. did see a bearing retainer bolt on the trans leaking.. pulled it out and only sealant on bolt was from the gasket squished into it. Hopefully this fixes it. I'm leaving main alone, not tempting fate. remind me never to buy same color trans fluid as engine oil.. Viton vs Rubber for rear main - 67440Dodge - 03-21-23 And now I got a fancy schmancy Mancini seal mount sittin in a box.. it'll join rest of stuff I got stashed for "someday" |
