I'm looking for a gear reduction starter for my 1958 Dodge Coronet. Can someone send me recommendations on what to get and where to buy it? My current starter takes a lot of cranking power to turn over the engine and sometimes barely turns the engine over when going on short trips with frequent turning of the engine off/on. So I'm hoping there's a newer after market gear reduction starter compatible that will work as a replacement for the original. My engine is an original v8 325.

I looked on rock auto and they are out of stock. I’m not sure if anything is compatible with that motor. Is there a place local to you that rebuilds starter motors? A good source for info is forwardlook.net for your car, check it out if you haven’t already.
