Disc brake question for my 67 - Piper - 03-21-19
I am thinking about getting a simple disc brake kit like this one I linked to below, I will be using a small bore Wilwood master (basically because I have it).
Should I use a stock style proportioning valve? or do I need one that has the adjustable knob for the rear brakes?

Disc brake question for my 67 - markz - 03-21-19
I don't know anything about that particular kit, but I have 73 A body disc brakes on the street car.
Put an A body proportioning valve in it (for disc brakes in the front). Was running around 14 seconds in the quarter. My daughter was driving it and she spun it 360 degrees at the top of the track.
Got home and did some testing. Sure enough the rear brakes were locking up first. Added an adjustable proportioning valve in the rear line, adjusted it and all is now good.
So I got no clue as everyone seems to have a different opinion but that is my experience.

I have a stock disc proportioning valve on all 4 of my cars that have been swapped to disc brakes. I haven’t had any problems at all.

If it is a stock drum prop. valve I would swap it to a disc unit. Since you have the Wilwood master already I would add one of these little guys. Make sure it has the line kit with it.

You might find it cheaper at Summit Racing, you need to choose which side rh lh mounting also.

I am not a Wilwood fan (actually have extremely strong words for them) but that is slick! I like that!

I have had a couple issues over the years with there disc kits no fitting well, mainly rears but never knock on wood have I had any problems with hydraulic parts from them.

In general I think their parts are pretty good. Its their customer service. I bought new axles and needed new hold down plates. Told them exactly what I had including offset. Said what I had would not work. Bought the new ones and they would not work but the originals did.
They gave me a RMA and then proceeded to tack on a large restocking fee - that was never discussed when they gave me a RMA.
I disputed the charge with my credit card company. Wildwood came back with a pure attack on me saying I was totally incompetent, had no idea what I was doing, and had no right to be using their products. Not only did I win the dispute, but I also got my shipping costs back which I originally did not ask for.

Unless you have a factory disc/drum prop valve you will need an aftermarket adjustable one. I bought one from Jegs for my racecar - it's a copy of the black wildwood unit in the link in a previous post. About half the price.
