Mystery torsion bars #s help - 67r/t4speeder - 09-29-16

Buddies `69 Charger R/T 440 auto had these bars in and I can't seem to find those #s listed. Any ideas?

I got "GG"'s white book out, I don't see any #'s listed for those at all, should be 66-71, 426-440, 781-L 780-R. Maybe out of a truck or something?

Andy, some info for you.....

I looked through my library for torsion bar info and here's what little I found.

1979 Direct Connection Racing Manuals (The Bible) - no mention of torsion bars at all.
1980, '83 & '84 DC Performance parts catalogs - No torsion bars listed. They must not have started reproductions yet at that time.
2001, '02, '03, '05, '07, & '10 Mopar Performance parts catalogs all listed replacement torsion bars, BUT not the ones you have in your photo.

Then, I looked in my Mopar Performance Chassis manual (9th Edition, I think it is from 2000) and there was some info on some special RACING torsion bars that were available. Weird that they are not listed in the "parts" catalogs? Your '453 L bar is shown, but not the '468 R. Anyway, below is the info I found.

For one thing, they're not matched, at least by part number. The numbers should be sequential. Do you think Direct Connection would have the DCPD markings?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Yeah, it says they used the OEM suppliers but different part numbers. I'd bet they used the original DCPD logo's too since it was original suppliers. I agree, they are normally sequentially numbered, but if these are special "race" bars????????? Who knows??

But that '453 bar that is shown on the chart says its for an "A" body. Too short to use on a Charger. And the '468 bar is NOT shown, although they mention that "B" body "RACE" bars are in the 450/460 range.

I'm confused! Confused

And notice some bars are sold as "pairs" and others are "singles".

Good reading there thank you .
I noticed the A body listing also, close but no cigar.
I always thought the last three digits that where stamped on the bar are the part # but seems sometimes that is not the case.
I asked him to bring the bars to my shop to measure them.
