I'm disgusted. Wiped the cam in the 440 earlier this year - daughter's car. A few hundred miles and 28 runs. Put hydraulic roller in that motor. That didn't go too well.

So tore the original 383 down that I ran for several years before the 440 went in - its going in the car. Yup - cam was wiped.

So no more Valvoline oil for me. I'm going with Driven from now on (Joe Gibbs Racing Oil).

This stinks!Rantinging

What was wrong with the roller setup you put in the motor?

I heard Valvoline backed off the amount of zinc in VR1 from a racer buddy. Sad

Motor is noisey and don't know where it is coming from. Plus it was a lot of work to put in the cam - cam button was a real PITA and spent a couple of days relieving the heads for the pushrods. Cleaning filings out of the motor after grinding was unbelievably painful. And I went to great lengths to keep the crap out of the motor while grinding. Taller lifter changed the geometry was pushrods were hitting. Plus the pushrods kicked my butt. Overall PITA.
