random post - Piper - 07-10-16 I looked at both of my 67s and you are right looks like an extra collar below the bearing ..I do not have this on The charger ..maybe because it was a column shift random post - markz - 07-10-16 Kevin, The 67 is a different design - what year is yours -68? Don't think a column shift or not makes a difference - think the year does. The 67 has a spring between the collar and the bearing. Did you have the clip I was talking about on the tube in yours? I can make you a collar that will prevent it from sliding out that would go against the bearing but I could not get to it till Friday or Saturday. random post - Piper - 07-10-16 I don't have the clip..but I'm thinking short term until I get the correct setup a 67 type collar or retainer would be the way to go and keep things safe..I'll see if can find some thing local tomorrow and let you know ..thanks guys I very much appreciate your repsonses random post - markz - 07-11-16 Kevin, I can make you a nice split collar so you don't have to take the column back out again. Just let me know. Mark random post - Piper - 07-11-16 Thanks Mark, awesome offer I bought one from Summit I think it should work...so after a lot of hours studying this stuff i looks like I am missing a spring as well my suspicion is someone was well into that column before me, going to tinker around again tonight Ill let you know what we find random post - markz - 07-11-16 My offer stands in case you find you need a custom one. Looks to me that a standard collar will need to relieved in order to clear the metal part of the bushing. Do you have access to a lathe or mill? random post - Piper - 07-11-16 I think I found what the problem is the original collar has a set screw to attach it to the outer tube the new one does not random post - markz - 07-11-16 Don't totally understand the pictures but you very well might be right. The collar would not be a bad safety though especially since the plastic pins are broke. random post - markz - 07-14-16 Update???? |
