I will have it either this weekend or next and will start tearing into it in the next few weeks. I'll be sure to post pics and updates of the build and let you guys know how it goes. Thanks for all the input! Your car is absolutely gorgeous Richard! Modern Hemi swap 66 Cornet 500 - thebankerstoy - 04-18-16 That's fantastic Tom! ![]() Why don't you start a thread in the DCR Restoration forum so you can document your 440 build and other projects that you might be doing in the future. That way we can all follow your progress all on one thread! ![]() Richard Modern Hemi swap 66 Cornet 500 - thebankerstoy - 04-18-16 By the way Tom, regarding the driveshafts in the 1966 Coronet models, there is some good news and some less than good news. According to my 1966 Factory Parts Book, it looks as if some of the various 318 Poly, 361, 383 and a few other engines using either a manual or automatic transmission along with an 8 3/4" rear differential use the same length driveshaft in the 1966 Coronet models with the exception of the station wagon models. The less than good news is that the 318 Ploy equipped Coronets use a smaller 2 3/4" diameter driveshaft while the big block 361 and 383 equipped Coronets use a bigger 3 1/4" diameter driveshaft. Back to the good news though, instead of you having to purchase a more expensive aftermarket driveshaft, you can go to a wreaking yard in your area or search online and look for a 1966 Coronet 2 door hardtop, 2 door sedan, or 4 door sedan that is being parted out that was equipped with a 361 or 383 and go with that. Just check it for straightness and any damage and replace the u-joints and you're good to go. Due to possible copyright law infringements here on the DCR Tom, I'm unable to post any information directly from the 1966 Factory Parts Book concerning the various 1966 Coronet driveshaft specifications, but I will send you a personal message later today here on the DCR and we can talk further ok? Richard Modern Hemi swap 66 Cornet 500 - 67440Dodge - 04-18-16 Fraid I must disagree with you there Richard.. But according to this, all driveshafts in 66 were 2.75" in diameter, unless you got the 426 motor. Then it got bumped up to 3". 8256] |
