What did you do to your Coronet this Week ....??? - thebankerstoy - 05-15-17 Very cool Jeff! Richard What did you do to your Coronet this Week ....??? - JimKueneman - 05-26-17 Hopefully it is quiet because you are driving your Coronet! Balanced my driveline with hose clamps on the drive shaft. Much Much better. Took it for a test drive. 10790] What did you do to your Coronet this Week ....??? - 67RTBlue - 05-26-17 That scenery is the perfect backdrop Jim! Car looks great. How did you balance the driveshaft like that? What did you do to your Coronet this Week ....??? - ws27 - 05-26-17 I was going to ask the same thing. How on earth did you know where to put the hose clamps. What did you do to your Coronet this Week ....??? - JimKueneman - 05-27-17 Per the FBBO post just now: "I also did the final fine tuning of the driveshaft balance. I added 2 hose clamps last week and made it better. I added another after jacking it up on stands." The first 2 I moved around in about 1" increments till it was the best it could be running in gear at 3000 RPM (the FiTech is great for consistent RPM). Once it was the best I slid one in 1" increments clockwise and counter clockwise and decided which way was better. I then move it in 1" increments till it started to get worse then moved it back to the best position it was. That made it better. "It runs about 3000 rpm at 75 so that is where I started. I slowly moved the third clamp around the tube in 1/2" increments and found the sweet spot. It is amazing the sensitivity of this. I had to get the clamp screw to within one half of the width of the screw bulge for the best result. Basically about 1/4" increments you can feel the difference. Took it for a short run at 80 and it seems smooth as silk (need to get on the freeway to really prove it out but it feels way better)." http://www.forbbodiesonly.com/moparforum/threads/1968-coronet-500-project.114333/page-45#post-910673664 http://www.dodgecoronet.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=10791&stc=1 What did you do to your Coronet this Week ....??? - 67RTBlue - 05-27-17 I'm still scratching my head! Hey if it worked though! This reminds me of balancing a ceiling fan. That procedure always made my head hurt. When I did ours I had DTS replace the joints and balance it. Unrelated. Rear leafs are squeaking. Sounds like the front bushing. I know your not supposed to oil or grease them?? Brand new S/S sprint assemblies. Front spring bolt too tight? Too loose? |
