I have steel line from tank to carburetor .i believe mine should be ground from steel tank to body thru straps

Custom has the idea, it clips only on the metal parts though and rubber flex hose in middle. Making a solid ground connection from pick up tube to fuel line going to carburettor.

Guess 49 and up it changed.my outlet is at bottom edge of tank.no rubber hoses.and at sender just one wire at top.its a 1950

Is the tank touching clean metal? Mabey it's loosing the ground circuit inside the tank.

Yes tank secured tightly to trunk with straps.even temp.ran a grd wire from top of sender to body.still have to trace out wiring under dash.developed another project bleeding brakes line near engine bay started leaking, so that will be next ,changing brake lines
