Those are pretty flimsy braces. Adding strategic bracing using foam would be pretty easy to do and should help quite a bit.
As long at the hood is properly secured flexing won't hurt the hood too much. I made a hood one time and was not smart enough to brace it. Talk about flexing.........
My AAR hood goes 140 mph but it has 8 hood pins.

Oh yes, it was very possible.
Back in the mid '70's when I was young and REALLY dumb (unlike now when I'm REALLY old but still dumb) I took my car up to 140 mph on a couple of occasions. 383 automatic car with 3.23 rear gears, all factory stock configuration. So yes, they will do those kinds of speeds, no problem.

(still dumb)Good to hear that these Muscle cars where capable of doing these kind of speeds! 140 must have been impressive for young guys, especially in those days.
Mine has 3.55 gears. Better or worse for top end speed?

That will give you LOWER top end speeds for the same given engine RPM.
