It was bigger so I figured I'd swap 'em out to get better handling for the convertible . . . got if off and discovered they are different even though both cars are big block-automatic 1966 Coronet 440's. Took a look at the lower control arms on both cars and saw that the brackets where the end-links attach are welded on in different locations. On the hard top (built Aug '66) they are out-side of the strut rod (between the strut and ball joint) and on the conv (built Sept. 15 '65) the brackets are inside the strut. Anybody seen this before?In the parts book they only show 2 arms with or with out link type sway bar arms. `70 up arms have bracket in a different location like and E body.

Richard had this covered before. There are definitely two different mounting styles for 66. In 67 there was only one.

I was aware of the style of bar where the end links attach to the strut rod itself, so apparently there were 3 differing styles?

Hello Jeff,
I'm not suppose to post pages here on the DCR directly from the Chrysler factory service manuals or the factory parts books, but in this case, one picture is worth a thousand words. To see the part number listings for the lower control arms, please see section number 2-10-6 in the 1966 factory parts book.

The bars on both my cars are the "link" type show in that small box but will not enterchange. Were there 2 types of bars that attached to the strut rods?

Decided I could not live with the tired looked rear panels with the new paint. Restored the paint on the center panel and right taillight trim tonight. Will do the left tomorrow.
