What did you do to your Coronet this Week ....??? - Racer Brown - 02-19-16 Take a small piece of insulation, wrap it up in tin foil and slide it between the valley pan cover and intake, that's the way they came, you won't need much, just so you can see it on the front portion and "shoot" some paint on it either before or after you put it in! Did 67's have this? Assume it quiets valvetrain noise? Ours did not have any insulation left but has the plate that would hold it down. I was going to put this plate back on but gonna leave it off since I'm running the Edelbrock intake. Looks cool open-to me. I will save this piece of course! 7908] What did you do to your Coronet this Week ....??? - Racer Brown - 02-20-16 Yup, it would sit under that, about an inch or so. What did you do to your Coronet this Week ....??? - TekHousE - 02-21-16 Well I did some work on the Coronet yesterday. ANd I can tell you my blood pressure dropped accordingly. It was so therapeutic to be working on the car again. Hopped in, pumped the pedal and fired her up first time. Ahh the benefits of warm winter storage in Finland.. ![]() Drove a few hundred meters to my mechanics shop, measured the drive shaft, then dropped the shaft and measured the total length. I am replacing my factory drive shaft with either a cro-moly or alloy one. (balanced of course)..When we swapped my rear for the Eaton Tru-trac 3.23:1 I noticed that at about 100mph, I was getting a really low frequency vibration..Turned out to be the stock shaft not up to the task.. We were going to take it out and balance it. But now I will get a new one, shave some weight off by going to a stronger but lighter metal, and keep the stock one in storage. Second thing we did was take out the radiator. I had a multi-core built to look 'stock' last year, and that used my factory top tank. But the guy who did it was sloppy. And the top tank had messy brazing and did not look good enough for shows. My mechanic was as unhappy about it as I was. So now we are getting another radiator builder to completely strip and rebuild my top tank. Then put it all back together. Last thing, I made a decision to take off my front factory sway bar. I am going to keep it safe in case I want to go back to completely stock. But I just ordered the much heavier duty bigger diameter Hotchkis front sway bar kit. My stock one is 15/16ths and the Hotchkis one is 1 3/8". I ordered through Mancini Racing. Last year I added a rear sway bar, so with the new front end body roll will be almost gone. We had actually already changed all the front end bushings to neoprene, so it had tightened up a lot compared with the stock rubber. WEEEEWEEE ![]() What did you do to your Coronet this Week ....??? - thebankerstoy - 02-25-16 Gee Andy, did you expect anything else than Max firing right up for a drive? ![]() Richard What did you do to your Coronet this Week ....??? - Racer Brown - 02-26-16 ....especelly after it's ALWAYS nice and warm there!!!!!!!!!!!!! What did you do to your Coronet this Week ....??? - Joe mama - 03-12-16 After using the porting templates on my 452 heads and installing new seats and stainless steel valves I hope to take the car for a ride this afternoon! I was surprised that the valves were sunk into the heads. I thought 452's had hardened seats. What did you do to your Coronet this Week ....??? - Robb - 03-13-16 I polished some chrome. It is an ongoing project. '58 Spring Edition has a LOT of chrome...
