Richard What did you do to your Coronet this Week ....??? - Piper - 12-01-14 I did my friend AND used the info you provided, crossed the numbers and found a company called centric makes most of the stuff the only thing that was a pain in the heiny were the pins that hold the shoes to the plate, they only ones I could find seemed to be short. Other then that everything else worked perfectly! So the 11x3 should work pretty well I think What did you do to your Coronet this Week ....??? - thebankerstoy - 12-01-14 Piper Wrote:I did my friend AND used the info you provided, crossed the numbers and found a company called centric makes most of the stuff the only thing that was a pain in the heiny were the pins that hold the shoes to the plate, they only ones I could find seemed to be short. I'm looking forward to seeing your progress on that very cool Charger! Richard What did you do to your Coronet this Week ....??? - 67r/t4speeder - 12-01-14 Centric makes good parts What did you do to your Coronet this Week ....??? - Jim 68cuda - 12-01-14 The only thing I did to my Coronet this week was to expose it to the cold weather by taking it to the Saturday morning Cars and Coffee cruise in at Great Falls, Virginia. Put the top down when I arrived and the top went up for the drive home. There were some vintage cars (like an early 50's Cunningham with its original Chrysler Hemi under the hood) that had no top to put up. The owners of those open cars had to endure the cold weather. This is a year round weekly event, but I only go two or three times a year. Its only 10 minutes from my house, but its just too early on a Saturday morning. There is some interesting American iron that shows up, but its mostly exotics and vintage imports. Here are links to the photos I've taken at these cruise ins the few times I've attended over the last couple years. Somewhere among the pictures you'll see several photos of the Cunningham. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.190137341033324.44885.100001111775214&type=1&l=d842c77b70 https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.415742838472772.88977.100001111775214&type=1&l=32bfd704e3 ![]() Mostly what I've been working on lately, has been reviving my 68 Barracuda 340 Formula S after it has been sitting dormant in my driveway for at least six or seven years. A buddy has been helping with it. We replaced the fuel pump and filter, siphoned out the gas tank and added new fuel, and we got it running. That was one weekend. Since then, we have taken apart, cleaned, and rebuilt two different Carter AVS carbs more times than I can count, trying to get it to run right. Then we took parts from both carbs to try to make one decent carb out of two. It ran better, much better, but still wasn't right. Finally another buddy donated a spare AVS carb he had sitting on a shelf to the fastback Barracuda. After a quick internal inspection, we put it back together and bolted it on last night. The car runs better than it ever did in all the years before I parked it. It idles smoothly, and the throttle response is strong and instantaneous. No more flat spots, no more stalling out just off idle. I can mash the pedal to the floor and it will instantly smoke the tires. Cruising at 45 mph, I mashed the pedal to the floor and the rear tires broke loose. It has Never done that before. I wasn't expecting it, so it was a little scary when the rear end fishtailed a bit at speed. Its good to know it has that kind of power, but I know I need to be careful. Just applying half throttle from a stop and it will peel out. The car has a lot more power than I ever thought it did. Wish I had the right carb on it years ago. I honestly think its faster than my 68 Charger RT 440 now. I took this picture when I took it to Cars and Coffee a couple weeks ago. It was running pretty good, but just not good enough. Its much better now. ![]() What did you do to your Coronet this Week ....??? - theman440 - 12-01-14 Drove mine to the Sunday morning cruize - in.
