I need to install a new steering shaft seal. So i am trying to figure out how to remove a 1965 Power Steering Shaft Coupling (shown in picture) and reinstall it

They just pull apart if you are not careful. The power steering box end has a roll pin you knock out, it can be pushed either way. To get the coupler off the steering shaft, pull the coupler apart and you will see the pin to knock out too.
What I did on mine. I used a foot long piece of 1/4 threaded rod. I tapered on end that goes to the roll pin. The other end I incerted into my air hammer. I used short bursts on the trigger. The roll pin came out with little effort and little or no trauma to the coupler..

I also used it to install the roll pin.
The coupler is splined one way to fit the steering input shaft.
thank you guys very much I will atemped to do this my next day off work.
Interesting that you can replace that steering shaft seal without pulling the steering box. Mine (66 Coronet/power steering) is weeping a bit and I decided to put up with it because the factory shop manual states that you have to pull the steering box to replace that seal, so I figured I'd make that a Winter job. However, according to that same manual, the pitman arm seal can be replaced in the car. Please let us know how you make out with the seal.
