Hi all,

There are a couple of spots on my like new vinyl roof, just above the drip rail, where the adhesive seems to have failed. The vinyl's in great shape - soft & flexible. Does anyone know what kind of adhesive is used to secure the vinyl? I may take a crack at it myself by removing the chrome trim and getting adhesive in that way but if it looks too "iffy" I think I'll consult an upholstery shop. The car is a '66 Coronet 500 H/T.

Thanks in advance!

i put a new top on my dart. i used 3M spray trim adhesive. i believe this is what the "pros" use too.
Thanks very much - just the info I was looking for!
I picked up some 3M heavy duty spray adhesive ($30. - yikes) and tried it today. Fairly easy to get the roof trim off - just requires patience. Also masked everywhere the spray might hit, gently peeled the vinyl back and applied the spray to the vinyl and the roof (just like regular contact cement). I used wooden tooth picks to keep the vinyl separate from the roof 'til the adhesive was set, then simply rolled it into place. Worked well & I'm happy with the result.
