Hey all...

am trying to get the Coronet finished....and wanted to know if anyone had any tips for installing the starter.....any "gotchas"?

I read the service manual.....not sure what it means by backing the starter off.....

HELP!

thanks,

Mark
theres no gotchas just bolt it on you dont hav to shim it or anything it just bolts up. I dont know what they mean by backing it off.
Beefman,

thanks for the reply....

when you engage the starter, does it automatically align the teeth....I am just worried about chipping one off the torque converter....

thanks,

Mark
I have bolted on at least a hundred of these starters... it will never chip the ring gear...ever. unless you have the wrong starter. The shape of the retractable drive unit is such that it meshes with the ring gear perfectly and automatically, so no need to line anything up. This is one of those rare times where reading the manual literally can cause some confusion. If this was a Cheby, you would have issues like shimming and number of teeth... not so on Mopars.
Mark you are installing a stock gear reduction starter?
Disconnect the battery!

OK thats good, I asked only because sometimes with the newer style mini starter's you need to do some wiggling to fit right. But a stock one should be a bolt right in deal.
