Yesterday I traded the set of headers that didn't work on my net for a posi pinion and gear's. It's a 3.23 the same thats in it, my question is how hard is it to rebuild, and do it correctly. This is about the only thing I have yet to tackle on a car, any help would be appreciated!
Since you are mechanically inclined and the only thing you haven't ventured into, I would get a book and do it yourself. There are some critical measurement's that have to be right on, and few tools needed like dial indicator, torque wrenches, press, so make sure you can have access to these. The factory service manual is really a great tool also.
Does it even need to be rebuilt? Most of the time they just keep going and going. A leaky seal is a different story.
Soon I have to replace both outer axle seals, my drums are greasy. The rearend right now is a 1 sided tire fryer, I'd rather have the posi in it. Plus that I want to see how everything looks back there, prevent any future problems from happening.
I understand, I though you wanted to rebuild the actual chuck. The axle seals are easy and a must when you pull them for chuck replacement.
