Nope - it was a 4-speed. If you watch/listen closely during the chase scene you will notice the driver stirrin' the Inland shifter.

I remember the count was some odd number like 9 or so..
They did lot of creative editing with that movie.. flipped camera angles to make it look like they were on a different street..

Just watched the chase again.. definetely looks like a 4 speed car when he does what appears to be a 3-4 upshift..
