DodgeCoronet.com - Fall Carlisle

While I didn't make it to Mopars this year, I did hit Fall Carlisle. I always found best deals on Mopar stuff there, I got my 4speed there, steering box, PS pump, all for half what would cost at Mopar show. This year was a dud, many spots were empty and many didn't even uncover because of the on/off rain, and some were packing it in on at about 1pm on first day. Only Coronet parts I saw were a set of taillights for a 68.

I did find Andy a new helmet for when he takes Max out to the track

I saw a bare BB six pack manifold for a 69, guy wanted $900 for it.. and then one for a 340... ouch...

Some cool old drag cars.. I loved the Fairlane.. (yes Andy, I admit it...it's a cool car). The price on it made it the bargain of the show..

I just realized my first time to Carlisle was Fall 1984 when I worked at Kanters. Had parking pass to park on the grounds, so I parked in front of their trailer, slept in car. They didn't sell anything, just handed out catalogs..

Nope.. they did it just for the advertising part of it, but they would take orders and call you back for payment info. They sold everything from a wheel bearing for a 41 Cadillac to chrome head bolts for a Packard straight 8. A big chunk of their money making was from shipping (not counting the fact the wheel bearing they charged you $30 for they paid 50cts for when they bought out a parts store inventory). They charged 10% of the cost of what you bought, so if it cost them $2 to ship a $2,000 order to you, they'd lose $198 in profit if they let you pick up at show. That's one thing they were very good at, not losing money..
