What makes a Dodge require a ballist resistor and others not ? The coil ? If so what other coils would interchange to get rid of the BR ? Is that all that would need changed ? Thanks . BooBoo
Yup.. it's the coil. Some had the ballast resistor built into the coil, where others had a resistor wire or ballast resistor.
Wasn't the ballast resistor used to cut down the voltage to the points so they'd last longer?
Yessir... And in some electronic ignition setups (GM's HEI for example), a resistor wire was used to help the coil run cooler.
