As amazing as this might seem I have located what the seller is telling me is a 65 coronet 440, and it originally came with a factory 426 wedge automatic. How can i verify this for a fact? he also has what he's telling me is the original motor and trans. what numbers should I be looking at to verify this? I'm assuming the numbers on the motor/trans should match the car somehow right?
From what i'm finding on the internet the motor size is not in the vin located inside front drivers door, it must be on the plate on the fender.
The cars pretty much rust free but is a basket as the whole thing needs put back together/painted/interior, etc. What kind of number should I be throwing at him?
And no, i'm not telling you where it's at,lol.
Thanks, Dan.
Hey Dan,

Serial # won't be on the engine or trans, that didn't happen until 68. Not sure if it's on the fender tag either that year. Anyone know if the pad by the intake would show anything?

I don't know either. Andy F on Moparts has an original 426 65 Coronet that he is redoing. You should check it out his threads.
