I am super new to forum's and owning a classic car....In fact, I bought my first car yesterday from the original owner in Courtney British Columbia, Canada. It's an all original, one owner 1966 Dodge Coronet 383 / 727. It even has the original dealer protective plastic on the seats! I'am sure that this topic would have been covered 10,000 times though I am still trying to figure out how to search each forum....

To really enjoy this car, I would like to update the drum brakes to period correct disc brakes and power booster. I would also like to replace the shocks with period correct items as these are original as well.

I am am not looking for the shiny goldish power booster - I would really prefer the matte black booster and original calipers. Same as the shocks, original Colour would be my preference.
can anyone point me in the right direction for purchasing these?
I really appreciate any help that can be provided.
Regards,
Craig Anderson
Welcome Craig, glad you found us. Sounds like you have a really nice car.

For the disc conversion, you may want to stay away from the original ones because of the expense and parts availability. You can put in a set of Diplomat discs which although won't be exactly correct will look somewhat stock. The originals are 4 piston calipers and the Diplomat is single...and far more reliable. You can also get all the wear parts at your local parts store. I would suggest upgrading to a dual master which won't be correct looking but will be MUCH safer should you have a leak.

For the shocks, get a set of your favorite ones that fit and paint them black, that's what most people do. A lot of people prefer KYB.

When you have time, please share some pics of your car, we'd love it.
Welcome aboard Craig, nice `66 .

Nice 500!

Is that a painted top?

I agree, a car in your condition needs to be kept in original looking condition.
You bet! The previous owner said it came that way.
The white roof (and redline tires) were the two things that first caught my attention!
