I am very sure that the only reason that Classic made it known that they are possibly going to offer the 1967 hood letters is because someone saw Rich's thread here on the DCR and they wanted to trump Rich by being the first to offer them to the public even though they have no product in stock to sell.

I will also mention that I have a very good understanding on how the aftermarket vintage car parts business works after dealing with a few companies over the years trying to get certain 1966 and 1967 Coronet parts reproduced and I can almost promise you that Classic IS waiting to see if they receive enough pre-orders for these 67 hood letters to make sure this product will pay for itself before they make a final decision to produce them or not.

May I also say that after knowing Rich (ws27) for as many years as I have and knowing very well how hard he works to give top notch customer service to every one of his customers in his a/c and heating business all year long and also knowing how much time, effort and cash investment that he has put into producing and selling these letters to his friends here on the DCR first and then to the general public when he feels they are up to his high standards, it would be extremely disappointing to me and others here that consider themselves extremely lucky to be able to call Rich their friend to let him down by having folks purchase them from another source.

Classic will offer these letters to make a profit, Rich is making them because he loves the 1967 Coronets and he wants to help others who love them as much as he does. Please consider all of this before you purchase them.

One thing I've learned being in business on my own is that people are free to do what they want. If you want to sell something, you must offer something they want to buy.

I will continue down this path because I really think mine will be more close to production quality than others. I will not name anyone specific, but I've seen letters of other vendors for other cars and most are either very poor quality, as you can still see pits from the originals or are over polished...or both! I've spent way too much time trying to get these as perfect as I can. I've was driving them nuts!

What is causing the current delay is literally TWO THOUSINTHS of an inch! This thread has lit a fire under my rear end, so I will try to get the proofs back from the guy who is causing the current delay and see if I can get them to someone else to delay. LOL

This endeavor is purely a hobby and not business as I would have gone out a while ago. It really is a good thing I haven't quit my day job.

Having seen Rich's prototypes first hand and knowing the quality that the finished product will be, I absolutely would wait for his! I took one of my very nice original rear letters to Carlisle to compare them and they are spot on! To go along with what Richard said above in regards to the aftermarket, I had to do some long overdue maintenance this winter on my fuel system, rear brakes, and suspension and I can state that every single piece that I took off my car was original and every single reproduction piece of crap that replaced them was different in some way(even though they were advertised as correct reproductions).

I agree with all of the the comments on here. I just recently purchased my 67 R/T and contacted Classic before I knew these were in development. I own a small business as well and completely understand the mindset of big business and suppliers as I deal with them daily. Most could care less about customer service or satisfaction. It's a pump as much out as possible, make as much margin as possible, and pay people as little as possible to do it for us mentality. Once I knew that Rich was making these I immediately jumped on board and messaged him about it. I need both the front and back, so count me in. You can add my "preorder" to your list for justification of production, LOL. I figured that's what Classic was doing. I did not place an order with them as I figured it would be a waste of time.

67-500, I have my car in the shop now getting some maintenance done as well, almost the exact same things. I want to be sure my car is ready to go to Carlisle this year. I used to go all the time with my dad and extended family, I come from a big Mopar family, but haven't been in about 7 or 8 years, got married, had a kid, busy with work, just basic life, but I am really looking forward to going back in 2017. I had a PT Cruiser that I used to show when I was in high school/college in the early to mid 2000s and always wished I had a classic Mopar to show like my Dad and Uncles, and now I do. Should be a whole different experience. My Dad had to sell his car several years ago and I bought this one for us to enjoy together. We plan to ride up together to the show and meet up with some of my Cousins and Uncles. I am looking forward to it, and hopefully meeting several of you guys as well.

ws27, I am glad you are energized! I am sure everyone on here doesn't mind chipping in to keep you motivated. We all think you have an end product that is (like my son likes to say) phenomenal and we all want to see you get these to production. Keep us posted as we are all excited.
