Here are some more pics of my issue. The master will not fully seat onto the booster with the gold base thing. The collar that sticks out to hold the boot is too long and bottoms out inside the booster as pictured. When I remove the gold thing from the master it allows the cylinder to back out slightly but not fall out. I do not see any retainer plate referenced in the service manual only a screw on the bottom to hold the cylinder in. I could remove the gold thing and just put the boot in there and it allows the master to seat all the way on the studs. Another question would be the proper gasket between the master and booster. I have a foam and paper one in the kit I bought. HELP!

The piston cannot stick of master like that, it needs a retainer in place of gold thing that held old boot which you will not reuse

Yes that is the tab I have seen and thinking I'm going to have to fabricate. The bore size is going to be the final exception. Anyone happen to have access to know? the number cast on the bottom of this master cylinder is 2225621
