My uncle has the same car same color but real he bought new it has 345,000 miles on it now. Each one of his kid's drove it to college.
I drove it when I was 12 and probably the only one that washed it back then
Hello Andy,
That's very cool indeed! Before I became a Mopor guy back in the 1980's I owned several AMC, GM and Ford muscle cars including a 1965 Mustang hardtop and two 1967 Mustang fastbacks, so I still have a soft spot in my heart for the 1965 through 1968 Mustangs.
Below are pictures of a real car similar to what the model was fashioned after. The major difference is that the real car is an automatic and the model is a 4 speed.

cool one bet that blower is a hoot
seems to me uncle had a roll bar with shoulder belts and a huge finned oil pan I remember, with a 4-speed
Did your uncle order the car from Shelby brand new? If so, he could have ordered the street version with a roll bar, as Shelby would build them any way the customer wanted them.

Not sure if he ordered it or just saw one on the lot
So sad, "oh yea, I'm going to restore it someday"!
Ooops I posted under die cast instead of Random
Hey Andy, that's ok, I'll just post a couple of pictures of similar cars in 1/18th scale!

The only "newer" car I would own if I didn't have mine!
