Is the old crusty one a 4327S? If so, want to get rid of it?
Keeping the original for that "one day".
Solved!
Small drop base and a homemade bracket. Overall height worked out to be the same. Intake is taller than stock but carb is lower than stock so it wound up being the same height as stock setup. 7884]7885]7886]
I cheated. I bought an after market chrome air cleaner to fit the carb that used the same size air filter as the original dual snorkel air cleaner. Used the chrome bottom and the larger dual snorkel top. The top overhangs the bottom making it basically a unsilenced air cleaner like those used on a 68 340 or 440.
Never thought about the unsilenced part. It isn't obnoxious is it? Ya I know these are muscle cars!

To be honest, I don't drive the 383 Coronet all that hard so I never noticed any difference in the sound. I do notice the sound on my my 68 340-S Barracuda and my 68 440 Charger. Those have the factory unsilenced air cleaners and you can definitely hear it when you put the pedal to the floor.

My dual snorkel is unsilenced, I ran across a base that was about 1-1/2 in opening. When you "punch" it, you can hear it. This also brings up something I found out a few weeks ago, all 67 R/T's and GTX 440, 4 speed cars built in the 4th qtr of 67 CAME with an unsilenced air cleaner! It's idenicail to the dual snorkel, except, no snorkels and a little smaller base. If someone here has one they want to let go of, let me know!
