Hi fellow Coronet owners. I am slowly getting aquainted with the ´67 Coronet I recently bought from PA. One secret I cannot figure out is that she had two red lights on the radiator wall facing the grill. Can you tell me why lights like these were used in the U.S. Was this a police vehicle? A fireman´s vehicle? A security vehicle of some sorts? Besides a photo of the lights I have also enclosed a photo of an old switch I found below the dashboard. It has no connections with the red lights. The lights and the switch are not a recent addition. Google search for the part # on the switch as yielded no results.

Thanks for replying

Back in the 70's and 80's we use to install these around and in our cars to make them look cool ...... We called them "sex lights" so when you had a girl in your car at one of your favourite parking locations, you could turn the "sex lights" on to see what you were doing and not have the interior lights on . At one point I had 2 reds under the dash 2 blues in the back seat 2 in my rear window well and 2 in the grill facing backwards to make the grill "glow"...... among other things .

I hope this helps ..
Our esteemed member who reigns from Calahoo, Alberta nailed it right on the head! I too remember those lights but our police didn't like them on and had us remove them ASAP!
Smile Thanks guys. Although I am not desparate for another wife, I will certainly have these in working order a.s.a.p. Smile
