I purchased a '67 Coronet last year at the end of October. I decided to build a "one off" sort of Coronet out of it. It came with factory A/C, full tinted glass, a nice black interior, 318 V8, column auto 727, and a no Suregrip 8 3/4 rear. It was a 100% complete car. Out of Texas by way of North Carolina. The passenger floor pan is rusted through and few small spots here and there. I disassembled it over the winter, sold it, bought it back, and here is where i'm at now...

The list of planned mods, some of which are done, are as follows..

Remove spare tire well to allow the dual exhaust to exit through the 1970 Road Runner rear bumper back up light holes. (done)
Section '70 rear bumper to add 3/4" in length to match '67 body, shave the bolts. (done)
Slice bottom outer corners of quarter extensions to match up curve of '70 bumper ends. (done except brazing)
Build my own bumper mounts so the '70 bumper will sit where and how I want it to. (done)
Fabricate the entire rear sheet metal to accept a 66/67 Charger tail light assembly. (under construction)
Add sequential turn signal function to 66/67 Charger tail lights.
Cut down the Charger trim to fit inside(recessed) the 67 tail light spaces.
Move the lower trunk seal lip up to meet the new trunk surface. (done)
Bond the aluminum quarter tails to the quarters permanently and fill the seams.
Shave off the gas door and all hardware inside trunk. (done)
Add custom " JET FUEL ONLY" flip up gas cap to the left quarter top surface between trunk lid and top edge.
"French" the gas cap into the quarter panel surface.
Add chrome rocker moldings and wheel well lip moldings ( R/T). ( have rockers, need wells)
Shave "DODGE" letters from hood and trunk.
Change quarter panel numbers to read." CORONET 540" on both sides. (acquiring emblems)
Slice and dice trunk deck to change back edge to terminate above the '66/67 Charger tail light assembly. (half done)
Mini tub the rear wells. (half done)
Close out the trunk space with 20 gauge steel so a gas tank can be fitted to the over axle hump area in trunk.
Add 26 gallon custom tank to trunk.
Replace trunk floor with flat steel. ( no well).
Remove trunk hinge stops and tension rod assembly. (Done)
Add gas lift units to trunk lid.
Create real side scoops in front quarter panel area from the fake ones. ( done except filler)
Close out side scoops with Stainless Steel wire mesh ( like the Riddler Award winning Imposter Impala). (have mesh)
Have Mac Steel fab a roll cage to my specs.
Fabricate a "roadster" type of rear seat area close out panel to flow from the back of the front seat head rests to the rear of the package shelf in rear window. Shape this panel from a 66 Sport Fury rear seat rim panel( shaped like a set of wings with a drop center). Carry the shape of the panel all the way back to shelf and gradually slope it out to zero at the window.
Add 2002 jeep Grand Cherokee Limited front leather bucket seats. ( 10 way power with heat, lumber, up/down, back/front tilt forward/back, and seat up and down height. (have seats)
Add overhead small console with map lights and sunglass storage.
Add 1998 Audi A6 Quattro Avant interior including entire dash w/ wiring, console w/ all wiring, all 4 door panels, A/C heat box and controls, firewall wiring terminal blocks. (have interior)
Add under dash racing brake pedal w/ reservoirs.
Fabricate way to move the washer motor under the dash.
Close out engine side of firewall.
Add fabricated panels to hide everything I possibly can up on the inner fender shelves.
Fabricate dual forced ram air scoop set up to hood with a mini cowl in between them. (Done but for filler)
Add Road Runner type turn indicators to rear of cowl.
Fabricate hood to lose the two slanted contour lines. ( half done)
Slice the leading edge of both front fenders to lose the forward curve. (fabrication begun)
Fabricate the '66 500 grille to become flat at the outer edges to meet the new fender profiles.
Lose the fender mounted turn indicators. (lost)
Fabricate the inner hood frame to accept front tilt scissor hinges. (have materials)
Add stiffeners to hood frame to support the forward tilt. (have materials)
Fabricate the rear of hood to place latches on both sides.
Add 1974 440 wedge, steel crank, 540 HP 576 FT LBS torque. ( have base motor)
Add bigger torsion bars.
Add stiffer springs.
Add sway bars front and rear.
Add 1978 Ford "9 inch" rear end, narrowed 6 1/4 inches. ( have axle, 31 spline, true 9' sun gear, and big bearings, no taper to tubes and 11"brakes.)
Add rear tires 29x15.00x15 on 15x 10 rims.
Add front tires 265/60/15 on 15x 8 rims.
Add side view mirror to passenger door.
Add '70 Road Runner front bumper, w/ shaved bolts.
Add home cast aluminum "EXPRESS" script to grille.
Change all interior/dash lighting to Hyundai blue.
Add Ford trakloc to 9 ".
Add frame connectors and torque boxes.
Relocate rear leafs to set under the frame rails.

All of this and anything else I can dream up as I go along. I hope to be entering shows in the middle of the summer 2017.
Here's some pics...enjoy.
Looks like a fun interesting project and so far so good.

Very nice...
I must admit that these types of projects that blend later model cars features to the 66, or 67 Coronets aren't something that I'd do, but you will be doing a lot of interesting work to make this project happen.

Nice project !
Very interesting! :o
Things are moving along slowly as life has to be lived in between thrashings. I did go back and source the heat/a/c harness and some mounts that I forgot from the Audi. The dash is bolted up in a temporary sort of way as I still need to weld up the mount plate that I had to go back and get. Come to find out the dash has to set rearward and a bit higher than a stock '67 Coronet dash because the door panels close up against the ends of the dash to line up the trim lines. This in turn made it so the seat mounting rails have to be scooted rearward as well about 4 inches. This is the sweet spot for steering wheel position and for me( 6' 1") to be comfortable and still reach the gas and brake as well as being able to rest my arm on the door while cruising. The dash being higher is no issue because it amounts to about an inch or so and the seats can be powered up to put me in line . The Audi center console as well as the lower dash sets up above the Coronet tunnel about 7 inches so I will have to fab up a extension to the tunnel to bring the surface up to meet the bottom of the Audi dash and also meet the bottom of the heater box. This is also the surface that the parking brake handle mechanism mounts up to. This will give me an abundance of space to run wiring and heat/ A/C vents through! Bonus! It also leaves me with the space to rig up an extension linkage to the transmission shift lever because the center console is now about 16 inches rearward of the stock location and higher up as well. The heater outlet connections in the engine bay will fall right behind the big blocks right cylinder head so i'll have to extend them behind the dash to pop through farther to the right. All in all I find this to be a fun and interesting little project and I love figuring out all of this stuff and then making it happen. It's what hot rodding is all about IMHO. Here

Thanks, I have put a lot of thought into this thing and have spent many hours sitting on the ole' 5 gallon bucket staring and thinking. I have a picture in my head of how I want this to turn out and now it's all about breaking it down to small manageable bits and driving on.

Hey Richard, I totally understand what your saying there. It's sacrilege to many to take a nice low miles survivor and "ruin" it by changing Ma Mopars original designs. I agree that work involved is interesting bordering on daunting. However, I am in no hurry, no deadline here. I have time to apply brain power to everything that comes up. I don't have a nice shop with all of the right tools and equipment, but, I do have 30 years of military experience and training in how to make it happen by thinking laterally. Solving problems with "out of the box" thinking is satisfying to me. Good looking 66 there. My buddy has a 66 four door that is pristine and untouched.
