I just go my new Edelbrock Performer intake and 4 bbl carb installed on my 72' 318. In the process I've realised the kickdown linkage as well as the throttle cable are not long enough nor is the mounting plate in the right position for the new carb. I know 2 barrel to 4 barrel is common upgrade for these engines but looking around I found no easy answers. I was hoping there would be some sort of kit, mod or maybe I can just take the 4 bbl linkage out of another car at the junkyard. Has anyone done this conversion and what was your solution?
Try Lokar company for a throttle and kickdown cable kit.
Or wrecking yard and some fab skills
Is it an easy conversion from the lever style kick down to the cable?
Wow! I just found an amazing article that spells it all out! Here it is in case anyone else needs it.

**Edit**
After I installed my kickdown cable I calibrated it as told in the above article where the lever on the transmission was just at the point of resistance on the valve when the throttle was off. In my case on my 1972 727 trani this produced less than desireable upshift when just cruising. It would upshift to 3rd only when my foot was completely off the pedal at speeds below 50 or 60. When it did shift it was harsh and clunky. I suggest what I did and that is to adjust the kickdown cable so that the first 1/8th of travel is before the "friction zone"(when you feel resistance) in the kickdown lever on the trani. Now my transmission upshift is barely noticeable and smoothly happens when it seems like it should.
