There is nothing special about the engine, it's a 318 LA...sadly with a faulty rod-bearing (or how do you call that?)...sounds like there is a little man inside the engine, striking against the pushrod with a hammer. But this will be history next week, I already got a running spare engine from a '74 Charger which will be installed and driven while the original Engine gets a complete rebuild.
Nevertheless, a few shots of the engine compartment:

@Racer Brown: I have spent almost one year near Augsburg for my maintenance training (I work as a flight safety maintenance technician for the German Air Force). They have tasty Beer there, but i prefer the Beer from my hometown, Jever Smile
Sounds like a great plan to keep car rolling while you fix other one, those 318s are excellent engines.
And it's working again...
The spare engine isn't beautiful, but it's running smooth, fits the survivor look of the whole car und will (hopefully) do the job until the original engine is ready for action Smile

Nice work, you need to come here and put Jims engine in his wagon. So far it has not gone in it itself!

I'd like to do that, but it's a little bit far away...

Today, it ran the first 50 Kilometers without problems....enough for being sure, that longer distances should be possible Smile
