Two additional pictures showing the completely different way that fuel tanks are mounted in the 1966 & 1967 B-Body cars as opposed to the 1968 through 1970 B-Body cars.

It's extremely difficult for me to understand how retailers could possibly state that the 1968-1970 studs could be correct for the 1966 and 1967 cars. It just proves how little research they do before listing their parts.

1966 and 1967 B-Body cars. (except station wagons) ONE mounting strap and ONE strap stud is used and the strap is mounted sideways in the car.



1968 through 1970 B-Body cars. TWO mounting straps and TWO studs are used and the straps are mounted longways in the car.

Richard, I think they keep saying it is because the 68-70 will fit rather awkwardly. So they might be superceeding the correct one. I have an incorrect one on my silver car.

I honestly don't know how you could mount one of the 1968-1970 fuel tank mounting strap studs in the factory location on a 66 or 67 B-Body car and make it work without making modifications, as the angle of the 68-70 stud would be completely wrong on a 66-67 car. You must have made a custom fuel tank mounting strap, or some other modifications on your 67?

Holy smokes, didn't think I would generate so much discussion. Just for the heck of it, I have ordered the Classic piece (it's only $14.99). Once I get it, I'll figure out where it's supposed to go. Next time I'm out in the shop, I'll crawl underneath to see what's what.... I know that my car had a new tank installed at some point before I got it.

Richard, I most likely modified the bolt, not the bracket. I won't be visiting that car until Jim's wagon is done, and that won't be any time soon...

I think it may have gone up top where the fuel filler tube is (if it fit 66 at all). The strange thing is the listing is for 65-66, which use a completely different setup if I remember right.

I looks like a gasket/seal for where the filler tube and vent tube go through the trunk floor like an A body.
