I tried the 8 inch 4 1/2 inch backspace wheel with the M/T ET Street Radials 255/60/15 in my bone stock 67 Coronet 500 wheel well. It was a no go - turning the tire would rub the aluminum trim in the wheel well. I was not going to trim it - car is too nice. Went with a 7 inch 4 1/4 inch backspace but in retrospect I believe the 7 inch with 4 inch backspace would have been fine. The 8 inch made the tire section width too thick - the 7 inch rim makes the section width smaller.

Thanks Markz
I was thinking the 8 inch wheels might be to wide.

You can use a 8" wheel but go with a 5" backspace for a 275

Just remember you can always push the tire back out so you might go with a 5 1/2" BS
