We have results! I backed the vacuum advance can CCW several turns. I moved the vacuum hose to the upper port. and I started the car. It ran like crap! I could not get the car to run for nothing.
I disconnected the vac advance. Reset timing to 8 before TDC. Reset mixture screws to 1 1/2 turns. It runs bad. I think I now have either a bad vacuum leak or I sucked some crud into the carb.
It surges at idle really bad. when I cover the carb opening the engine races and smooths out.
I ran the car anyway down the same strip of road with the vacuum advance hooked up and that ping is GONE!

As far as a vacuum leak? I dont see how I could get one over night. Just two hoses. one for PCV and other to distributor.
In a few minutes Im going to go blow oit the idle mixture ports and run some carb cleaner in there and re run the car.
Id like to thank Mopar and Missles for the solid information I got today.
As I see it now. I have or should I say had 3 different problems.

#1. I was using the wrong vacuum port for my Vacuum advance. Thanks Mopar / Missles for the heads up.
#2. I was adjusting the vacuum advance the WRONG way Thanks MP instructions, resulting in part throttle PING. I disconnected the vacuum advance due to the PING creating a drivability issue with plug fouling.
#3. Lastly. the annual EDELBROCK Carb rebuild. I went to my local auto parts store today and ran into a Mopar racer buddy. He heard me pull in and said your Edelbrock needs a rebuild. Up / down idle and surging in gear. ( That just started this morning )

Im looking forward to tweaking the vacuum advance and timing AFTER I get the carb rebuilt because I know there are gains yet to be had!

Im a happy Dude.
Great to hear!
When rebuilding the carb, take a good close look at the throttle shafts for excessive wear that may also be contributing to an intermittent or variable vacuum leak. I don't remember which car I owned that had that problem but I remember it was a bear to figure out. Good Luck!
Just a lil update.
Rebuilt the carb using the PFCI brand carb kit.
Car runs better. Still a little shutter. But I took all the vacuum advance out of it. Going to make adjustment to sneak up on the best setting.
Car is still on jack stands. I welded in one of my new mufflers on Saturday. Sunday woke up with a case of Metal Fume Fever.
Feeling like crap today as well. Didn't look like galvanize pipe?
Hope to be street tuning by mid week.
I`m not sure if you had read my first post since I edited it but this a common problem with edelbrock carbs, -GOOGLE THIS- edelbrock off idle stumble lots of info on this
Will do
