If your timing is too far retarded it will get bad gas mileage (and run hot) also if your, vacuum advance in inop that will affect mileage too.

its all stock im not sure the gearing. 318/727 4 door. as far as it being retarded, i can say it does not run hot at all, very cool when driving actually. after my commute from work and i park it, and go to restart it about 10 mins later is when its the hottest and it will be at 160 then when i drive its between the 160 mark and 0 constantly. vacuum advance fairly new and working

its been running like this on cool mornings (60s) and in the summer i think i remember it running 160 constant

Just for a reference, my 318/727 Poly has a Stromberg WW series 2 barrel carb and , I believe, 2.94 (?) rear gears. Last time I checked mileage, I was getting 22mpg - on an imperial (CDN) gallon. Heat riser's stuck open, timing at 10 degrees BTDC at idle and choke working as it should.

Yep same set-up as Harold on our wagon 19 - 20 around town 22 freway. We got 20 loaded with swap meet parts from Spring Fling last month LOL

thank for the quick replies everyone!! this forum is awesome compared to the dodge durango forum im on (trying to sort out issues there too). no one ever replies there and if they do its like 1 reply every 2 days , effing sucks lol but yea im gonna dig into her this weekend, assuming i find time this weekend, bc i also gotta plan my daughters 1 year party and have to plan our wedding which will be the day after, all coming up in early may, i have alot on my plate now with virtually no funds lmao
