When i did my green bearing install last year.. i must have messed up my inner axle seal when reinstalling the alxe because they were pretty old seal from the looks..it is leaking now and is getting past the o ring on the green bearing.. i cannot get the old seal out...it seems to be in there pretty good..what is a good way to get these in and out?
Try a slide hammer or a big pair of channel locks. Make sure there are no scratches on the tube. Better yet seal the outer rim of the seal with silicone when you install the new one.
I dont have a slide and i tried channel locks and it just bends the metal part
Not sure what you have to work with as far as tools, but you need a drywall screw at least(sharp) then some kinda grippy pliers to yank with. Some kinda slide hammer like Rich said to grab that screw will help. Home made easy.
Run that screw in and yank , show em who's boss. Don't scatch housing though be nice to axle housing (like Rich said) we need that part.
I used a punch and punched the metal part of the seal until it buckled and it bent it inward enough to where it slid right out...no one said you had to preserve the old seal..its beat and bent to hell from me prying on it with channel locks lol..well off to get a seal driver tomorrow to put the new one in Wink I love 3:45 AM wrenching haha
Put grease on lip spring of seal it will help it from popping off when installing.
A socket works for a driver
Well somehow i got the wrong seal.. I ordered from rock auto the seal there's a gap around the whole axle
I had a "blonde moment" it rides near the bearing on the bigger part.. Duh duh lol
