After you press the shaft out of your lower control arm to replace the bushing, you still have the inner sleeve pressed on the shaft to tackle.

One way I found easy and no damage to shaft is to tack weld a washer on to the sleeve and that gives you something to press on. I used the press but after it is hot from welding on it will be easy to tap out in a vise with a soft punch.

I'm a cheapo so I even cut the tack off the sleeve to use washer againSmile
Another option is if you have a cut off wheel, you can cut a groove in it, then smack it with a hammer and chisel or a air chisel It will break enough to the slide off the shaft with pliers.

The words of experience! I am agreeing with both these posts because I have done the very same things. I'm a cheapo as well, I'd rather expend muscle and broken skin then spend a buck if I can get away with it. Couldn't have gone through all these years fixing my own machines unless I had that attitude!
I have done it the cut off wheel way, but the other way is a good idea. I would not call it the cheap way, I would call it the smart way.
Sometimes just welding a bead on it will expand (from heat) it enough to get it off.
My method usually involves a hammer and chisel...then a bigger hammer...the an even bigger hammer...then occasionally a completely new piece of whatever I'm working on.
That's because you don't use the proper tools. 4029
If I included that, I'd have no hands left.
