Hello gents! I had a quick question for those who have used (or know) the Mopar Perf. leaf springs. I recieved my new XHD MP leaf springs for my 67" Coronet acouple days ago and to my surprise 1 leaf has 6 springs on it and the other has 7 springs. Before I ordered them I asked the rep. how many springs were on the leafs and he had told me 6 springs each leaf. He really didnt sound to sure but It seemed like he was looking it up. So my my concern is that I will install these springs and 1 side will sit higher then the other on the rear.
To my inderstanding the MP "competition" leafs had 1 more spring on 1 side. Im not looking to use the car on the strip very much so I decided to go with the regular MP XHD springs. What can you guys tell me about these springs, are there other good springs that have a equal springs on ea. leaf? My biggest concern is that the rear will sit higher on 1 side then the other. I had the new springs side by side (obviously no load on them) and the leaf with 7 springs sat 1 1/4" higher then the other. Does this mean that my car wont sit even in the rear if I install these springs? Thanks!
yes, it will not sit level. the passenger side will be about a half inch higher mine does
The XHD springs are the ones that came on the 440/426 cars.

In the Tech Archives there are the spring specs for 1966 and 67 Coronets.

Remember, the axle sits on top of the springs, so having 7 leafs on the right side won't make it sit higher. That is done via the arch in the springs.
You won't have any trouble, put them in, they are not supposed to be different heights left and right. Put them on top of each other and compare the arch first if you'd like.
Now you got me thinking Confused I hope you install them and let us know how yours turn out. people told me the reason was the spring was a little stiffer. I didn't notice any difference in height before I put the new springs on. also installed new frame rail bushing to.
The only MP springs that are supposed to have different heights between left and right are the Super Stock springs.
Here is afew pics. of the leafs side by side, you can see the diff. in the arch etc..
The car was as original as you can get when I first got it years ago. The original leafs on the car are 5 leafs ea. side, and sits pretty level, (atleast with worn leaf spring springs). It is a 383 c.i. car. I know that these leafs are replacements specifically for the 440/426 c.i. car. I hope that atleast the 440/426 c.i. car from factory sat abit higher on the passenger side like mine looks like its going to do, (I would feel alot better about it)...lol. I also double checked the part #'s In Case they sent me the wrong ones and they Are the XHD as I ordered and not the "competition" springs which I believe is the same as the "Super stock". I really hope its not to high on 1 side, and I was almost thinking on returning them for that and going with a different leaf spring brand/option, until you wrote a difference of 1/2 in. "badmopar67" thanks btw. Either way I have them now and definately wont go with 5 new leafs again for the car now. I also have the adjustable shackles in the rear and intend to most likely lower it by 1", which would help. Ill first see how it looks at stock height . They freakin could have wrapped the leafs with alittle plastic right where they put those mailing stickers on though...lol, its impossible to scrap those off by hand/nail. I will have these new bad boys on my next day off or so, and let you guys know and post a pic.
Heres afew pics. for future reference. Thanks for your help.

Those are the same ones I have.
Those are not the correct 67 426/440 springs. The extra leaf is very small, like 8 or 10 inches and is simply stacked on the bottom and is very similar to the other very small leaf.

Also check out this thread, we were discussing it before: http://www.dodgecoronet.com/forum/showth...Dimensions

The arch is the exact same even though there is one more leaf.

Hope this helps.
Hey everyone! Yea I saw that thread.. I dunno, maybe the small leafs on these "MP" leafs springs count as halfs, that way they can count as 6 and 5 1/2 leafs...?. The originals leafs on my 67" are in fact 4 1/2 leafs. The part #'s are painted and engraved on both these MP leafs. I checked afew Big parts suppliers and the part #'s are Correct on these that they All claim are for the 440/426 leafs. Part #P4452983 and P4452982. I had these MP leafs perfectly side by side and at the axle pivot there Is a 1" diff. in the arch. Also 1" lower on the other side of the leaf, compare to the other leaf spring. Ill also take a pic. of my originals also when I get them off for future reference to 67' 383 original leaf springs, and these MP Performance leaf springs.
