I imagine this has been asked before, many times, but I'm still new, so here goes. I'd like to convert the single master, on my '66 drum brake Coronet, to the later dual system. Looks fairly straightforward to me - source a '67 master, get another connector block and plumb some new lines. Not sure if the single push rod will work, though. I'd appreciate anyone's input as to what I should watch for or what I'm missing when doing this.
Thanks to all!
If you have manual brakes, you can use the pushrod from the 66 MC. The only time it won't work is if you get the MC from Mopar Performance, that requires a longer pushrod.
You also don't need a MC off a 67, pretty much any drum brake Mopar will work. While mine is a disk brake conversion, the MC is actually off a Diplomat police car.
Thanks for the info. Looks like a good project once the snow flies up here in Ontario. The car already has new linings and wheel cylinders, so that should keep the costs down. A cruise night buddy was telling me that the dual master seems to improve the braking on his '66 Belvedere.
