Has anyone done this for a 383 mopar? Cut out the valley pan (as in the picture) and use a 4 gasket from Felpro? Or do you use a stock valley pan / intake gasket?
That valley pan keeps hot oil from splashing the underside of your intake manifold. Take a look at and old used one and you will surely find caked on petroleum deposits stuck to it. That gunk would be on your intake manifold if it weren't for that stock pan and your air/fuel mixture would most likely percolate in the intake runners. I would highly recommend using the un-modified factory pan.
Yes like 4264door says use the original manifold gasket. You can also remove/install the intake manifold if needed and re-use the same intake manifold gasket as I do. I dont put silicone on top of the gasket to intake manifold.
both of my big blocks have the stock valley pan with no gaskets and run fine.
Looks like they are saying use the valley pan but cut out the sections that surround the ports. That's a new one on me?

Me too Mark, maybe it is for some modified head ports.
